Rural Watch - Monthly Bulletin

Monthly update for January 2012
There were 62 recorded incidents to the police during the month for the area.
21 incidents were highways and vehicle collision related.
This can include obstructions and reports of speeding drivers or farm animals on the highway.
There was a house burglary at Carden whilst the owners were away.
A shed was broken into in Brown Knowl.
A burglary took place at a house in Threapwood. A large a amount of musical instruments and recording equipment were taken.
A car was broken into on Church Street, Malpas and handbag taken. Please do not leave items like this on show.
A Land Rover Defender and an Ifor Williams horse trailer were stolen from a farm in Oldcastle. This vehicle was seen in convoy with a silver/grey Isuzu Trooper 4x4.
Cold callers asking for scrap metal continue to be reported almost daily. Some farms and businesses continue to have diesel fuel stolen. Again with the price of fuel this will only get worse. Keep an eye on heating oil. On another note secure all items in sheds and alarm the shed door.
We are in a location that brings in many people involved in field sports. Most are legitimate and have permission to be on the land. In the Tattenhall, Beeston and Peckforton areas there has been a rise in poaching and badger baiting. The poachers mostly use lurcher type dogs with hand held lamps, hence the term "lamping". Some have permission, most do not.
Many of these people are involved in other types of crime and I am always interested to receive details and registration numbers of vehicles involved. They mostly come from Liverpool, Wigan, Stoke and Manchester. I must warn about approaching people involved in badger baiting. It is a serious offence and the persons involved can be violent.
